The first responsibility of life is to find out WHO you are.
The second responsibility of life is to then BE who you are.
Go with me here: It’s like you take the time to find out you’re a red crayon. But then you’re like, “whoa that’s kind of an intense color, I don’t think everyone likes red….Way more people like purple.”.
So you move on with life and alter yourself just a touch so that people think you’re a purple crayon. It didn’t take much work, just a smidge of blue, and you believe that more people like purple - therefore more people like this altered shade of you. So you’re out there in the world doing all the purple-y things and hanging out with all the crayon shades that flatter purple. Not even taking offense when people don’t love your shade of purple because you secretly know, you’re actually red….
But then one day you come and home and want to scream or cry or run away...and you look at yourself in the mirror and remember why.
YOU ARE A RED CRAYON
Altering yourself just a smidge to be more likable, more accepted, less intense, less controversial - is slowly killing your cute, little red crayon soul.
What’s the world without red?
Without blue? Without yellow?
WITHOUT YOU BEING TRULY - YOU?
A monotone sea of the same color..
I know, I know, being a red crayon in a sea of purple crayons is CRAZY hard and ballsy.
But knowing who I am and then choosing to be who I am completely and unapologetically is the greatest responsibility I have in this world.
Being who YOU are in this world is your responsibility.
Let’s color the world together.
